German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived in China for a three-day visit on Thursday. The two countries have arranged a variety of high-level visits, including large scale economic and cultural exchange activities. The programs aim to enhance mutual trust and bilateral coordination to secure the common interests of the two countries. Germany will also host the Chinese Culture Year to advance mutual understanding and exchanges between the two countries. Outside of Europe, China is the first country to be visited by Merkel this year.
