Egypt is putting on trial 43 people, including 19 Americans, over the funding of non-governmental organizations. It has alleged that support from these groups may have caused street protests against the Egyptian military. Washington has warned that it will review aid to Egypt if it does not respect rights of NGOs. Human Rights Watch has also asked the country to drop the charges.
