Clinton Pushes Pakistan For Joint Covet Action

The United States has urged Pakistan to join covert actions against militants. The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who recently visited the country issued a strong warning to Islamabad. She said Pakistan will suffer “dire consequences” if it does not “contain” militant activity in its territory.

Clinton in an interview to Bloomberg News stated that Pakistan needed to increase its intelligence sharing with the United States and urged for greater cooperation from the country to stop assaults such as the siege on the US embassy in Kabul last month. Clinton also said that Pakistan needed to engage with US and NATO troops to combat terrorists in the tribal belts in the country. The Secretary of State evaded giving a clear answer on whether the US would launch an attack into Pakistan territory saying, “There’s a lot going on that is aimed at these safe havens, and we will continue to work with them on that.”
