Fighting between Qaddafi forces and rebels is going on at the Libyan-Tunisian border. The rebels have managed to resist Qaddafi forces for almost ten weeks and maintain their control over the crossing, despite being short of food supplies and weapons. Women and kids have fled the city in order to escape rocket strikes. Only a few men have remained behind to protect their houses. Meanwhile, more than 1,000 refugees from the besieged city of Misrata reached Benghazi safely on Thursday aboard an aid vessel chartered by International Organization for Migration (IOM). After waiting for days off the shore, the IOM’s Red Star ship finally managed to reach Misrata Wednesday after it was blocked first by sea mines and later by intense shelling in the harbor area.
