Fourteen Dead in Attack on Paramilitary Forces in Khyber Agency

Khyber AgencyAround 14 paramilitary soldiers, including two officers, were killed on Monday when their convoy was ambushed in the Akakhel region of Khyber Agency near the border with Afghanistan. According to reports, the Frontier Corps servicemen were returning to their camp after conducting a search raid in the neighboring Sipah region when they were attacked by unknown militants. Military sources said that most of the casualties were caused when mortars aimed at the attackers exploded in the gun barrel. This was one of the deadliest attacks on security forces in Pakistan’s restive tribal belt in recent times.
