Pakistan is currently so busy battling guerilla groups on its own soil that it can’t do more to assist NATO troops fighting in its neighboring Afghanistan, said the senior civilian representative for NATO in Afghanistan. Mark Sedwill also said that Pakistan’s attitude is hardening toward Islamist militants, which were previously sponsored by the state. He warned Western governments not to seek quick pressure against the government of Pakistan. “If we just say we’ll either bestow or withdraw a favor, then they’ll turn to someone else. We’ve seen that in the past,” Sedwill added.
