Context
President Ahmedinejad is heading to Latin America for a four-nation trip. He will also be visiting President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, which coincides with rising western alarm over Tehran’s attempts to build an atomic weapon.
Other countries on Ahmedinejad itinerary include Nicaragua, Cuba and Ecuador. All of these countries have frosty ties with US. Ahmedinejad stated that America has treated Latin America as its backyard and oppressed them, but now these people are acting independently.
Iran plans to sign bilateral agreements in all four countries and its foreign, trade, commerce and mines and energy ministers are accompanying Ahmedinejad.
