At least 28 persons were killed in a blast at a weapons depot in the Yemeni capital Sana’a on Thursday, according to the defense ministry. However, the opposition disputed the government’s claims and said the recent deaths were caused by heavy bombardment of a suburban area by forces loyal to the country’s president Ali Abdullah Saleh. Government forces have clashed with militia led by the most powerful Yemeni tribe for four consecutive days. The recent killings bring the death toll to 109.
