The US has blamed the large bombing at a NATO base in eastern Afghanistan on Haqqani network. Two were killed and more than a hundred wounded on Saturday, when a suicide bomber driving a truck attacked a NATO combat post near Sayed Abad area of Wardak province. 77 US troops and nearly 25 Afghan nationals were injured in the attack.
The Haqqani group, believed to be behind this assault, is run by Sirajuddin, the son of founder Jalaluddin Haqqani. The two have been declared global terrorists by Washington. A US spokesperson Captain John Kirby, said the attack showed ability, and means to resources to carryout large scale attacks.
The attack came just as the world was marking the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
