A report released on Wednesday by the Pentagon warns about China’s military buildup in the Pacific. The report gave details about China’s military warfare spending, estimating it to be at nearly $160 billion for 2010. Pentagon’s deputy assistant secretary of defense for East Asia, Michael Schiffer termed the build up as “potentially destabilizing” for the region, especially Taiwan, which China considers as part of its territory. Schiffer acknowledged the fears were not based on any particular development, but were due to China’s lack of transparency about it military developments.
