Pakistani officials expressed doubt on Sunday over reports of the death of Al Qaeda’s second in command. According to US officials, Atiyah abd al Rehman had been killed by forces in the northwest tribal area of Waziristan on August 22. However the reports were disputed by a senior Pakistani official, who said Pakistan was not even aware of his existence. An Afghan Taliban commander also denied reports of the death.
