The National Security Committee stated on Tuesday it will not attend the briefing at the GHQ. The Parliamentary Committee on National Security was among three bodies invited to a briefing to be conducted by Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Director General of ISI Lt-Gen Ahmad Shuja Pasha on Thursday. The other two include the Senate Standing Committee on Defense and the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Head of Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Senator Raza Rabbani said rules prohibit the committee from taking a briefing from “other organizations”. He said as part of the National Assembly, the committee is superior to military commands and claims the GHQ should come to them.
