Afghanistan will lend its support to Pakistan in case of an attack from the US or India. “God forbid, if ever there is a war between Pakistan and America, Afghanistan will side with Pakistan,” Karzai said in an interview with Geo television. “If Pakistan is attacked and if the people of Pakistan need Afghanistan’s help, Afghanistan will be there with you,” he said.
The comment has caused an uproar in the West and India. Afghan officials now claim Karzai’s comments have been taken out of context. The chances of a military conflict between the US and Pakistan are slim despite deteriorating relations.
