Concerns are growing in Israeli defense establishment over the likelihood that after a unilateral declaration of statehood at the UN by the Palestinians in September, nations across the world may boycott Israel’s arms. The worries, expressed by top military officials, come ahead of next month’s Paris Air Show, where Israeli military hardware will be put on show to seek new sales. Israel was the world’s fourth largest weaponry exporter in 2009 and 2010, behind the US, Russia and France. Many defense analysts are already concerned over what 2011 will bring for large Israeli arms companies amid global financial meltdown and the West’s proposed withdrawals from Afghanistan and Iraq.
