General Shuja Pasha, chief of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), arrived in Washington for a one-day trip on Wednesday, according to sources. The sources said he met Ambassador Haqqani and defense officials at the Pakistani embassy soon after his arrival. Pasha is due to meet Michael Morell, acting direction of CIA, on Thursday where they are expected to talk about intelligence cooperation. A CIA spokesman officially declined to speak about the story while the Pakistani Embassy issued a statement claiming they don’t comment on intelligence matters. This is the ISI Chief’s first visit to the US since the Abbottabad operation sparked tensions between the two countries, and is taking place a day after bomb attacks in Mumbai that killed 18 people.
