Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Yusuf Raza Gilani said that India and Pakistan had opened a “new chapter” in their relations. Pakistan’s premier on Thursday said “We have made very constructive and positive progress during this discussion. At the next round of meetings we should be able to open a new chapter in relations between India and Pakistan.”
Gilani said the two countries had made progress by discussing sensitive issues such as Kashmir and terrorism measures in a “frank” and “open” manner. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh echoed the sentiments of his counterpart, and praised Gilani as a “man of peace”. Singh also expressed his hope that the next round of talks would bring more progress.
