Israeli warplanes targeted Palestinian fighters in southern Gaza on Monday, killing one and injuring another as they were riding a motorcycle, according to Gaza medical officials. Islamic Jihad, which is an occasional supporter of Hamas, said that the missile attack targeted its men. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed it carried out the early morning strike, claiming it was targeting militants who had fired short-range rockets into Israel on Tuesday. Nobody was injured in that attack which came amid intensification in violence around Gaza in recent times.
