French President Nicolas Sarkozy in a meeting with French diplomats on Wednesday raised concerns about Iran’s nuclear ambitions. The president warned that Iran’s “military nuclear and ballistic ambitions constitute a growing threat that may lead to a preventive attack against Iranian sites that would provoke a major crisis that France wants to avoid at all costs.” Iran has insisted that its nuclear program is for solving energy problems and for medical research. Sarkozy has said that France would push for tougher international sanctions against Tehran.
