Israel Wants To Review The Peace Treaty With Egypt

Israel is looking to amend military appendix of Egypt peace treaty. Israel wants to establish strategic dialogue with Egypt to improve communication with the military regime in Cairo, senior government officials said on Wednesday. Israeli strategists want to remove the peace treaty between the two countries as a campaign issue in Egypt’s elections which are expected to take place next month.

The amendment of the treaty is a difficult task, as although Israel enjoys good relations with the transitional leadership, led by former defense minister Field Marshall Mohammed Tantawi, the opinions on the streets of Egypt are vital, and could differ.
