The Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt will open permanently within 7 to 10 days, according to Egypt’s Foreign Minister Nabil Elaraby. He said in an interview on Thursday that measures would be taken to ease the “suffering of the Palestinian people.” The opening of the border will make it easier for people and goods to be transported in and out of the Gaza strip without the permission of Israel. According to Hamas official Ghazi Hammad, as many as 300 people will be allowed to exit Gaza every day.
