Afghan Pilot Opens Fire on US Troops; Eight Killed

An Afghan air force pilot shot dead eight US soldiers and a contractor Wednesday at Kabul airport after an argument, according to US officials. The incident happened at 11.00 am local time at a compound used by the Afghan air force, the Afghan defense ministry reported. The shooter also died in the exchange of fire. The incident was the deadliest in a wave of recent attacks on foreign troops by Afghan security officials. The Taliban have accepted responsibility for the attack but the officials haven’t confirmed any insurgent involvement.
