Context
The Palestinians are getting ready to mark the “Nakba Day”- tens of thousands of text messages have been sent to cellular subscribers in east Jerusalem and the West Bank, urging them to participate in the proceedings marking the “day of the catastrophe” and to spark the third Intifada. Police intelligence said the Palestinians want to hold a number of prequel events this Friday and Saturday. The major concern is that protests may prompt mass rioting and violent clashes. Although the police believe the likelihood of any riots erupting are low, Border Guard troops and police will be deployed to east Jerusalem, the Temple Mount plaza and Old City, to maintain law and order.
