Context
A new chapter in Arab-Turkish relations has begun with the establishment of an Arab League office in the Turkish capital Ankara, in an attempt to dismantle negative historical prejudices and work closely together in years to come. There are widespread negative preconceptions against the Arabs in Turkey, as the majority of the population believes that the Arabs were partly responsible for the collapse of the Ottoman Empire in the early twentieth century. The Arabs, on the other hand, believe that they were unjustly treated under the Ottoman reign. The efforts of the current Turkish government to improve relations with the Arab nations have, however, laid the foundation for a drastically transformed atmosphere that allows for the booming of the centuries-old associations and relations.
