A senior Indian army commander has said that Chinese forces have been deployed along the line of control between Pakistan and India. Lieutenant General K.T. Parnaik, the head of the Army’s Northern Command, also warned that Chinese military presence in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir is a major concern for India. Speaking at a conference in Jammu last week, Mr. Parnaik said that China’s links to Pakistan through the line of control allowed speedier deployment of Pakistani troops to complement the military operations of its communist neighbor, outflanking India and threatening its security. Furthermore, it also stands to counter India’s proactive cold start strategy.
