The Taliban movement has strengthened in Pakistani tribal areas along the border with Afghanistan during the last few months despite an ongoing government operation against it, said the Obama administration in a new review of the war. The report, which was presented to Congress on Tuesday, praised Pakistani military for battling the insurgents in several border areas, which the Taliban use for launching attacks against US and NATO troops in Afghanistan. But the report has also highlighted “the inability of the Pakistan military and government to render cleared areas resistant to insurgent return,” referring to an area where three military operations have been carried out during the last two years.
