US officials on Tuesday demanded that Pakistan provide explanation for Osama bin Laden’s presence in a bustling town surrounded by army installations. As well as detailed information on the Osama mansion- who built and owned the compound- Pakistani officials were told during meetings with US diplomatic, intelligence and military officials to give names of eyewitnesses who can provide information on visitors to the mansion. According to US lawmakers, it was beyond belief that the Al-Qaeda leader stayed hidden for so long without some support or knowledge of the Pakistani officials. Some have even suggested that the annual US economic and military assistance of $3 billion should be reconsidered.
