The leader of Lebanon’s Shiite militant organization Hezbollah on Wednesday called for developing the country’s political system. Speaking at a gathering to commemorate the 22nd death anniversary of Iranian cleric Ayatollah Khomeini, Hassan Nasarallah urged the people of Lebanon to learn from Tehran’s experience in state building. He said that Lebanon faced many challenges because of serious flaws and gaps in the political system and called for the establishment of an independent committee to resolve these defects. Nasarallah also warned that Lebanon wasn’t immune to the turmoil witnessed in the Middle East and that some powers might try to divide the region.
