Banned religious group Jamaatud Dawa (JD) on Sunday protested against the granting of most favored nation (MFN) to India, and declared it was ready for jihad against NATO.
800 protestors gathered outside Lahore Press Club to demand Pakistan severs its ties with United States. The leaders of JD’s youth wing urged the demonstrators to prepare for Jihad. Maulana Abdul Rauf Farooqi, one of the group’s leaders said “the enemy” had challenged Pakistanis by attacking Pakistani soldiers; “We have to eliminate all stations and bases given to the CIA if we want to end terrorism in Pakistan. All Pakistanis must get ready for jihad,” he said.
Maulana Farooqi warned that if the US did not vacate the Shamsi Airbase within 15 days as per the demands of the Pakistan, the group would declare Jihad against the present Pakistani government.
The protestors after the speech travelled to Nasser Bagh to offer prayers for the Pakistani soldiers who died in the NATO attack.
