Russia Claims Bulava Nuclear Missile Test Successful

Russia has announced that the nuclear missile test it carried out on Friday was successful. Defense Ministry spokesperson Igor Konashenkov, told the media the 12 meter long missile which was fired from an atomic powered submarine hit its target area on the Kamchatka peninsula according to plan; “The flight went according to plan and the warheads reached the testing ground at the appropriate time.”

The Bulava was planned to be use as a future nuclear deterrent by Moscow. It was the third successful test launch of this particular missile by Russia. The missile has previously failed in seven of its previous 14 tests. The Bulava missile can hold six to ten nuclear warheads and is thought to be hundred times more powerful than the bombs used by the US against Japan in 1945.
