Pakistan has turned down US special envoy Marc Grossman’s request to visit the country, senior official said on Wednesday. He said the trip is not possible at the moment, indicating tensions between the allies.

Relations between the two countries reached the lowest point after the NATO attack on Sihala which killed 24 Pakistani soldiers. Grossman is due to visit Qatar and Afghanistan this week. Pakistan said in early December that it is reviewing cooperation with US and the matter is in the parliament. No firm deadline has been given on when the recommendations will be presented to the government. US State Department spokesman said that Pakistan should complete the review before Grossman’s next visit.
