Pakistan’s foreign ministry spokesman, Abdul Basit, stated on Thursday that the country will not forego the multibillion dollar Iran gas pipeline project, despite the threat of US sanctions. He added that Pakistan has studied the US legislation and it is clear Pak-Iran gas pipeline is beyond its scope.

Washington is forcing Islamabad to abandon the deal; however the government is not giving in to the pressure, arguing it is vital for the country’s energy needs. He also said that Pakistan wants the resolution of Iran nuclear issue through negotiations and dialogue by the international community.
