Cross-Border Attack in Bajaur Leaves 15 People Dead

Several hundred fighters from Afghanistan crossed the border into Pakistan’s Bajaur tribal area, sparking hours of fighting that left 15 people dead including three lashkar volunteers, two women, one solider and nine militants. The attack, near the Afghan province of Kunar, took place at around 4am on Thursday. The attackers eventually fled and the fighting stopped around 1pm, according to government officials. Security officials put the number of fighters at around 200. Afghan authorities denied any cross-border raid and instead accused Pakistani soldiers of killing six persons on Wednesday in a rocket attack. Cross border attack from Kunar in to Pakistan are on the increase, suggesting the extremists have adopted a a new tactics.
