Organizers of Gaza aid flotilla announced on Wednesday that they are willing to sail even without the participation of the directors of the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH). The vessel is currently due to leave in one week’s time to commemorate the anniversary of the raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla last year which left nine Turkish activists dead. While Turkey’s participation is important, it doesn’t mean the plan will be called off if the Turks don’t participate, according to sources. The IHH is thinking whether to pull out of the flotilla given tensions along the Turkish-Syrian border, the Turkey-based Hurriyat newspaper reported Wednesday.
