Context
Israel’s defense exports reached $7.2bn in 2010, compared to $6.9bn in 2009, the Israeli Defense Ministry announced prior to the Paris Air Show due to open next week. The country is said to be one of the top arms’ exporters in the world with specializations in the production and development of command-and-control systems, mini satellites, unmanned aerial vehicles and the renovation of various kinds of military and commercial aircraft. Overall, Israeli defense firms sold $9.6bn worth of weaponry last year, out of which around $2.4bn went to the IDF.
