Pakistani soldiers killed 30 Afghan militants in a border raid on Sunday. More than 200 Afghan militants crossed the border to attack the Pakistan army in the Barawal area of Upper Dir which lies 200km northwest of Islamabad. One soldier was killed and four were wounded in the fighting which went on for almost an hour. No independent figure of the militants killed has been established yet. According to officials, the militants after launching the attack slipped back across the border.
The incident is likely to worsen the already vulnerable relations between Islamabad and Kabul.
