The organization which garnered recognition for publishing secret documents said it would “temporarily suspend all publishing operations in order to direct all our resources to fighting the blockade and raising funds.” Wikileaks has witnessed a cut of its revenues after Visa, Mastercard and other firms suspended their donations and transactions to the company.

Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks sued Visa and Mastercard over the suspension. Assange has called the move by the credit card companies as “politically motivated”. Kristinn Hoffman, spokesperson of Wikileaks said the company’s earnings before the boycott exceeded 100,000 Euros per month. However the sanctions have reduced monthly revenue earnings to between 6000 and 7000 Euros.
