The White House announced a new strategy on Wednesday to prevent radicalization in the US, as numerous incidents such as the Fort Hood killing spree highlights a growing risk of home-grown terrorism. The plan called “Empowering local partners to prevent violent extremism in the United States” involves a community-based scheme to meet that goal. The document published on the White House website said that the communities must play a pivotal role since they are in the best position to confront and recognize the threat as violent radicals are targeting their families, children and neighbors.
