US House Approves $649bn Defense Budget

US House of Representatives passed a $649 defense spending bill on Friday that will see the Pentagon’s budget expand by $17bn. The chamber approved the bill with a majority vote of 336-87. It includes around $530bn for the primary defense budget and another $119bn for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The House bill needs to reconcile with a Senate bill, which is being formulated, before it can be sent to President Obama for signature.
