Context
The federal government shares greater portion of the blame for the country’s economic problems than Wall Street. According to a poll conducted by Gallup, a majority of Americans hold the government as primarily responsible for the weak economy. Twenty-six percent of those surveyed believed Wall Street was the principal factor for the nation’s problems. In contrast, an overwhelming sixty-four percent claimed the federal government was more at fault. 22 percent supported the Tea Party movement and completely blamed the government.
The results are important especially for the upcoming elections of 2012, as they reveal unhappiness with current policies adopted by the administration.
