Missiles fired by suspected US drones on Wednesday killed at least 10 fighters in South Waziristan, according to intelligence officials, in a strike bound to escalate tensions in the area. Local authorities and residents claimed two missiles struck a compound used by militants belonging to the Maulvi Nazir group that cross into Afghanistan to fight US and coalition forces. Seven militants were reportedly killed in the compound while the other three died when their vehicle was targeted by missiles. The reports couldn’t be independently verified.
