US, British, and French Military Advisers Reportedly Arrive in Eastern Libya

1100

According to media reports emanating from Israel, US, British, and French military advisers have arrived in the Libya’s eastern province of Cyrenaica. If these reports are indeed correct, this would be the first instance of direct American and European intervention since the public revolt started in Northern Africa and Middle East.

The reports indicate threefold mission for the arriving military personnel:

  • To assist the revolutionary forces controlling eastern Libya in providing essential services and commodities to the local population.
  • Organizing the paramilitary units to fight Qaddafi’s combat forces.
  • To prepare infrastructure for the arrival of additional forces.

PoliTact will be monitoring this situation closely.
