Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Monday warned Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad to end the brutal crackdown on civilians unconditionally and immediately. He stated these were “final words” from Ankara. Speaking at a news conference, Davutoglu added, “If these operations do not stop there will be nothing left to say about the steps that would be taken,” without elaborating further. Turkey’s leaders, who supported al-Assad in the past, have urged him repeatedly to make reforms and end violence after protests erupted against him earlier this year.
