Taliban Avenge The Arrest of Al Qaeda Leaders in Quetta

26 people were killed, and over 60 injured in twin suicide attacks in Quetta. The attacks were aimed at Deputy Inspector- General (DIG) of Frontier Corps Brigadier Farrukh Shahzad whose forces were responsible for the capture of three Senior Al Qaeda members including Younis al Mauritani.

The attacks took place on the highly guarded Anscamb Road. The first bombers blew himself near the car of Brig Shahzad, while another, entered the brigadier’s residence and detonated the bomb, killing Brig Shahzad’s wife amongst others. An army colonel Khalid Masood also died in the incident.

The Tehreek-i-Taliban (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the bombings. Their spokesperson, Ehasanullah Ehsan in a telephonic call said the attacks were “revenge for the arrests of our brothers in Quetta.”
