ContextFormer Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif has demanded fresh parliamentary polls to be held in Pakistan immediately, claiming this was the only way to resolve the problems faced by the country. During a TV interview on Wednesday, Sharif said that the people were disappointed with the current government and a fresh mandate was necessary now. This is the first time Sharif has demanded fresh elections, though other members of his PML-N party have repeatedly said that the problems faced by the country could only be solved through mid-term polls.
