The scandal involving Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp got worse Monday with revelation that News of the World, his former paper, bribed a royal protection officer for contact details of top members of the British royal family. Murdoch’s other newspaper, the Sun, is also being suspected of illegally obtaining confidential medical details of former PM Gordon Brown’s son when the paper’s editor was Rebekah Brooks, who now is the embattled chief executive of the UK arm of Murdoch’s media empire. An employee of the Sunday Times, posing as Brown, also deceived his bank into providing his account details, said the newspaper.
