Russia’s Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov said on Wednesday that Russia might develop an offensive nuclear force in case NATO fails to reach a deal over the European missile-defense shield. “We have no other way, otherwise we’ll just have to develop an arms race,” he said following NATO-Russia talks in Brussels. Serdyukov further said that the meeting in Brussels didn’t bring about a desirable solution and that NATO-Russia working group formed to look into this issue managed to only agree on the course of action for 2011.
