Over 40 foreign delegates and representatives from major regional organizations attended the London Conference on Libya on Wednesday. The participants welcomed what they described as a “new beginning” for the North African country that would allow its people to decide their own future, free from oppression and violence. It was announced during the conference that a contact group would be established to provide support to Libya in finding the right political direction. However, the participants couldn’t reach a consensus on major issues like what the final objective of the military campaign is, when the campaign would be winded up and whether NATO should limit the scope of air assaults after taking command.
