Pakistan has vowed to act against Chinese militants hiding in its tumultuous northern regions. Pakistan’s interior minister Rehman Malik in a meeting with Vice Premier Meng Jianzhu, assured him of Pakistan’s commitment to fighting against anti Chinese elements in the country; Members of the the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM). ETIM was held responsible for carrying out terrorist attack in China’s western Xinjiang province and are believed to have links to Al Qaeda.

The assurance from Islamabad comes as US accuses Pakistan of not taking adequate measures against militants. Washington has repeatedly asked Islamabad to take action against the Haqqani network. However Pakistan has said it will not launch an operation against the group.
