Pakistan Urges Afghan Action Against Maulvi Fazlullah

Pakistan has urged Afghan and US led forces to take action against the Taliban leader Maulvi Fazlullah. Fazlullah also known as Radio Mullah, is known to use the radio to broadcast fiery rhetoric into the Northern areas of Pakistan. Insurgents loyal to the leader raided villages in Dir, Bajaur and Mohmand earlier this year. Attacks by the Maulana’s men have also caused damage to army and security forces. Islamabad has urged Kabul to take action against militants such as Maulvi Fazlullah in the border areas of Kunar and Nuristan. According to Pakistan Army spokesman Major General Athar Abbas, Fazlullah’s group is trying to enter Swat through Dir. The area had been relatively stable till recently.
