Pakistan on Thursday assured US lawmakers it was looking into a complaint that its military had tipped off militants operating two IED factories in Waziristan, before action could be taken against them. The assurance was conveyed by a Pakistani delegation led by Ambassador Hussain Haqqani during a meeting with senior US lawmakers. During the meeting, the delegation was asked to explain how Bin Laden was able to live in a Pakistani town for so long. The lawmakers were assured by the delegation that a high-level commission was being formed to thoroughly investigate the episode. The Pakistanis, however, asked the lawmakers to also examine why no need was felt to inform Islamabad ahead of the raid.
